LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — People came together at Desert Breeze Park on Sunday to celebrate their African heritage and traditions as part of Africa Day.The African Diaspora of Las Vegas held a holiday celebration that included local vendors, dances, and traditional African clothes and accessories.

Attendees were also able to take advantage of a resource booth and a kid’s corner.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Friday is the last day for in-person early voting in Nevada’s primary election, and community leaders say the turnout rate has been low statewide.Major positions are on the line, from housing issues to school board trustees to the Las Vegas mayor’s race. Election experts say some races may not make it to the general election ballot, so it could be now or never to vote on these offices.

“I don’t think we can change the world independently. But if we take up our little bit of the work, we can make a bigger ripple in our community and get this information out,” said Quentin Savwoir, president of the Las Vegas chapter of the NAACP.
