Reggae North Canada: Elevating Canadian Reggae to Global Heights

Founded in 2020, Reggae North Canada Inc. has emerged as a pioneering cultural organization dedicated to transforming the landscape for reggae and dancehall artists across Canada. Recognizing the challenges that musicians within the genre have long faced, the organization’s mission is to elevate Canadian reggae both nationally and internationally, providing a platform for visibility, collaboration, and creative growth.

Reggae North began as a collective of artists, producers, songwriters, and musicians united by a shared vision of success through collaboration. Their first symbolic project, the theme song “Bring it to the People,” embodied this mission, bringing together artists who voluntarily contributed their talents to amplify the reggae community.

To further support the scene, Reggaenorthca.com, a digital magazine, was launched to showcase Canada’s reggae talent. The platform has become a vital hub for artists, producers, and creators whose work often goes unnoticed in traditional media, offering profiles, interviews, and insights that celebrate their contributions.

In 2023, Reggae North expanded its reach with Reggae North Radio, a dynamic online station that now broadcasts globally to audiences in the UK, Italy, New York, and Jamaica. Filling the gap left by the decline of mainstream and college radio support, the station provides an inclusive space for both emerging and established artists, fostering a vibrant and sustainable reggae ecosystem.

The organization’s vision is deeply rooted in the personal journey of founder Mark “Tony Anthony” Bennett, singer, songwriter, producer, musician, and journalist—whose passion for reggae and community advocacy reignited during the pandemic. Through Reggae North, Bennett empowers youth, bridges generational gaps, and promotes unity, mentoring the next wave of talent while celebrating the cultural legacy of reggae.

More than a platform, Reggae North is a movement. Its core message is one of collaboration and collective strength, captured in their anthem: “If we fight like selfish soldiers, we’ll never win the war.” Through mentorship, media, and music, Reggae North is cultivating a thriving Canadian reggae scene poised for global recognition.
